Welcome To FVICBA

Message from the President

Year 2008-2009 will be a stellar year for the Association. Planned events include co-hosting an economic panel in collaboration with the University of the Fraser Valley’s Center for Indo-Canadian Studies, Vasaikhi Luncheon for the community, the annual golf tournament, achievement awards and scholarship event, a family picnic, and a dinner and dance during our AGM.

The most significant initiative I am proud to be involved with is the concept of developing endowment funds which leave a legacy of giving for years to come. Yearly, students will receive scholarships which are generated from the endowments we will develop. This year, in collaboration with Dr. Darryl Plecas, director of the Centre for Criminal Justice Research and RCMP Research Chair at the University of the Fraser Valley, members of our Association joined together to develop the Indo-Canadian Pioneer Endowment Leadership Award. The first award will be presented during 2010.

Another initiative I will encourage this term is to involve a wide variety of individuals from the community to participate in our events. I hope to encourage new memberships especially since your contributions assist us financially and give us the encouragement of support from the community. If you have not signed up as a member yet, please complete the form on this web-site and submit it to us.

The Executive I have the pleasure of working with this year, is extraordinary. Each brings their own skills and abilities to ensure all of our events are successful. I am learning many qualities from the Executive, namely how to accomplish successful outcomes by working humbly as a servant of the community and I thank them for making my term effortless.

However, I look forward to hearing from you. Please feel free to contact me at any time for further information.
